Sindh Declares Public Holiday on Jumma-tul-wida, Imposes Traffic and Procession Restrictions
KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on the occasion of Jumma-Tul-Wida, as security and administrative measures are being tightened ahead of religious observances across the province. Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said a road in Karachi would also be named after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He added that no rallies will be allowed on Shahrah-e-Faisal, while all religious and organizational processions will be required to follow their traditional routes. ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that since the moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal was not sighted, Monday will be the 30th of Safar. Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed on Saturday, September 6. The meeting for the moon sighting was held after Asr prayers at the Pakistan Meteorological Department, presided over by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad. GUJRANWALA: Floodwaters are still spreading destruction throughout the Gujranwala Division with at least 15 people already perishing, the commissioner confirmed. The Sialkot District was the worst hit, particularly Sambrial, where six members of a single family were killed. In Gujrat, the floods claimed four lives, while Narowal reported three deaths, the commissioner said. In Hafizabad, two people were also confirmed dead.
