Amanda Seyfried’s daughter Nina has started Halloween season early. The 9-year-old surprised her mom in a new Instagram video, sneaking up behind her in a Scream mask. Seyfried also shares a son with her estranged husband, Thomas Sadoski.
The Scream Mask Moment
In the Reel, Seyfried plays a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” on the dulcimer. Partway through, Nina appears behind her wearing the mask. Seyfried turns around, lets out a shriek and ends the recording.
Several of her friends, including Natalie Portman, left laughing emojis in the comments. It’s a rare glimpse of Seyfried’s home life, and it shows a playful side of her relationship with her daughter.
This isn’t the first time Seyfried has shown off her dulcimer skills. She previously played the instrument on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she performed another Mitchell song, “California.”
Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski’s Separation

The video comes just weeks after Seyfried and Sadoski shared that they are no longer together. In a statement to People last month, the former couple said they had been separated for some time and that the decision has worked well for their family. They added that they will always have each other.
A Look Back at Their Relationship
Seyfried and Sadoski met on the set of the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By and married in 2017. They eloped, heading into the country with an officiant for a private ceremony. Sadoski later described it to People as a beautiful day for just the two of them.
Their daughter Nina was born just a few days after the wedding. Their son, Thomas Jr., arrived in 2020. In 2023, Seyfried described her relationship with Sadoski as “yin and yang,” especially when it came to parenting, and shared a moment when she praised his approach to handling their kids’ behavior.
