Shakira’s simple black dress is anything but basic. On Sept. 30, the Colombian superstar stepped out in Paris in a floor-skimming black evening gown with a dramatically open back, barely-there crystal straps and a plunging neckline.
Photographed arriving at her hotel and later heading into the Paris night, she looked polished, playful and completely at ease. She was in the city for Paris Fashion Week, where she attended Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2027 show at Place Vendôme. So the question is hard to avoid: is this Shakira’s best look yet?
The Tom Ford Dress Behind the Look

The gown is by Tom Ford and comes from the house’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection. It has a deep V neckline, an extremely low open back and slim straps embellished with crystals.
From the front, it reads as an elegant black column dress that follows her silhouette before dropping into a long, clean skirt. From behind, it is a different dress. The back plunges almost to the waist, and sparkling trim runs along the edges. The crystals don’t distract from the minimalist shape. They highlight its construction and add just enough shine for evening.
It is sexy without being overloaded, which is a big reason this backless black gown feels like such a strong Shakira fashion moment.
Made for a Dramatic Entrance

Shakira clearly understood the assignment. In the photos, she turns toward the cameras to show off the scooped back, then glances over her shoulder as she reaches for her sunglasses. She also waves and smiles for photographers, which makes the high-fashion outfit feel effortless.
The side cutouts and low back keep the focus on the silhouette instead of layers of accessories. She wore sparkling earrings and a matching ring, with no necklace competing with the neckline. The Fashion Spot identified the pieces as Akillis jewelry, reporting that stylist Nicolas Bru paired the gown with the brand’s Python earrings and ring.
Wet-Look Waves and Glowing Makeup

Rather than pull her hair into a severe updo to show off the open back, Shakira went the other way. She wore her famously long hair loose in wet-look waves, and the textured caramel-blonde lengths fell down her back in strong contrast to the black dress.
Her makeup was luminous, with defined lashes, rosy cheeks and glossy pink-toned lips, giving the look a slightly undone quality that suits Paris. Dark oval sunglasses added attitude, even at night. When the dress is this good, apparently the usual eyewear rules are negotiable.
