The Lahore Electricity Supply Corporation (Lesco) has announced new rules regarding the acquisition of AMI smart single-phase meters, prohibiting purchases from the open market, according to a report on Tuesday.
The utility has fixed the price of a single-phase meter at Rs11,666, and consumers will also incur additional security charges. Moving forward, Lesco will issue a demand notice based on individual consumer load requirements, instead of allowing free-market purchases.
This change follows a period when Lesco outsourced the meter-buying process due to stock shortages and issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to consumers, enabling them to purchase meters through external vendors.
