Punjab safety was also put in two significant danger threats as an Indian-produced landmine was intercepted at Zafarwal and an attempt to execute a terrorist attack in Dera Ghazi Khan foiled based on involvement of the slated outfit Fitna-ul Khawarij.
Landmine Unearthed In Zafarwal
The security officials were concerned after Civil Defense teams discovered and securely retrieve an 18-pound land mine in the Deoli bels of Zafarwal near nullah Dek. Officials identified the device as Indian-origin, and this would reveal the possibility of cross border dumping of explosives through the water channel.
The Bomb Disposal Squad was brought in and the bomb was dejected successfully. Law enforcers attributed quick response in averting what would have been a disastrous happening.
Thwarted Terrorist Attack in Dera Ghazi Khan
In another incident, Punjab Police said it had broken up a terrorist plot by the Islamist group Fitna-ul-Khawarij. According to the spokesperson of the police, an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted around the Jadewali cemetery, which is a high risk area along the border.
The bomb was securely disabled in a controlled operation by local police, the Special Operations Unit (SOU) and elite units. Spokesmen added that the operation foiled a potentially fatal attack on security officials.

The District Police Officer of Dera Ghazi Khan confirmed that intelligence-based operations were taking place in tribal and border areas. Again, he emphasized that the law enforcement agencies are fully determined to eliminate terrorism and make sure that the citizens are safe.
